yeah if only well wot do you think of that colony that antstore are selling that lives inside an acorn or something like that and can be kept with other colonies and live on surface
pretty cool :)
found the ants i was on about last post[web]http://www.antstore.net/shop/product_info.php/products_id/950/cPath/54/ant-colonies/colonie--Temnothorax-nylanderi[/web]
these would be interesting to keep tell me wot you think plz
I know them. (don't have them) and it is true that you can keep them in the same farm with another species (didn't try it myself).
But they are very small and only (about)200 workers in a colony is not much.
I don't know how would this work out. Ants on general don't like each other very much. And they don't like competition too. In this case the coexistence in the same basin is possible because Temnothorax are very small and they manage to live in smaller places then bigger ants. However, they are known to live off bigger ants brood. Stealing it from underground and using it as a food. You could say they are sort of parasites.
I've never found on a forum a post or a topic where this kind of coexsistence would be described. But maybe I just didn't look hard enough.
yeah still cool though could be good the tank for them wouldnt have to be very big the small arena might be suitable :)
not so good about stealing other brood:(
I don't now anybody who has them. so i cant say. But indeed you don't need much space to keep this species.
wot i dont understand is do they live in the acorn or is this comparing them to there nesting space?
