Myrmecocystus mexicanus queen is very beautiful ant. You can see pics of them @ the internet, and they look gorgeous.
That is true, but still they are not easy to keep. That is a bit of downside, the most beautiful ants are most of the time the most difficult to keep. ;)
That is true, but still they are not easy to keep. That is a bit of downside, the most beautiful ants are most of the time the most difficult to keep. ;) Shadown had one honeypot ant, don't knwo if she was mexicanus or what, but she died anyway. Such a shame.
Honey pot ants look great :)
Yes ,my friend also had Myrmecocystus queens (mexicanus and mimicus) ,all died and he is profi ,so it is very difficult to keep ,it is true. But I believe ,I have some experience and I want to try it. Camponotus ocreatus is also nice ,and easy to keep ;) ,I know ,my friend told me it   . Myrmecocystus mexicanus is big ant and nice coloured. They have honeypot ants since start of colony ,mimicus only when is colony bigger. I had many ants hard to keep ,european and exotic ,so .... only try can discover if I have experience :) ,If they will die ,I will know that ,I´ll must to learn more about ants in formicarium ;) .
