Hello Moxi93 and welcome to the forum.

I think most of us would like more ants from other countries. Like we all would like to keep ants from Australia. But the law is the law and there is not much we can do about that.
Fire ants are dangerous don't forget that, not only for you but if they would escape the could endanger the local nature.

Yeah I agree, fire ants are a very invasive species, they expand quickly and reproduce like mad. I highly recommend that no one try them.

i wish it wasnt ilegal. be cool to have fire ants lol. but anyway dont risk it, its ilegal.

Im sure i read somwhere there are some L.niger in parts of the U.S.A

As for introducing a so called "harmless" ant, L.niger are very hardy and would have no problem becoming a major pest over there. Don't do it im sure if he just looks around american sites he will find what he wonts, if not somthing close to it.

Andrew: (19. Aug 2008 23:55)

And plus there are laws to ship ants across borders, and if they do they are only worker ants. Plus ants are not as popular over here. And i don't know about L. Niger being over here, but i do know that some Lasius species are native here.

zachman030: (20. Aug 2008 11:02)
