But why you don't want them dig? :? Ants building their own home are really great sight.
But it really is one of those things where once you've seen it once, it really isnt a big deal the 2nd time lol
...if thats the way you think, i have to admit i worry about what will happen to your colony after a few months
i think its just as intresting for second time as it is also for the first time to wacth lol :) but i guess that's your opineon.
good luck when your ants arrive, i hope the cork nest works out well for u and your ants
let us know how it all go's when they come :)
maybe some pics?
Hi antsogood and welcome.
I like to add this to the discussion;
You need to find out what you like about the farm. Would you like to see your ants in the nest are would you like them to dig there own nest. If you know that you can look what nest are available. What are the positive and negative facts of a the nest you choice. And what does the species you've going to keep like the most. (that is the important one)
Find out this first and than start with the nest. ;)
Good luck with your ants.
btw, can the ants (lasius niger) work through a pinky maiden
pinky maiden : http://www.antstore.net/shop/product_info.php/info/p575_Pinky-Maden-50ml---100-pcs.html
It is difficult for small ants to kill them until they forage in large squads. But of course they will eat them if they are dead and cut in half.
Yep, it would be better if you cut them in half.
another question
would the queen be able to crawl through a tube of diameter 8mm?
im referring to the queen of lasius niger
ty
you could probably stuff about 5 lasius niger queens in an 8 mm hole
