Like Jimmy says.
Hi all,
Thanks all, this all helps and i have moved my temnothorax colony into a home. But i couldent put them in the nest i was hoping for because it was'nt escape proof. And i have added a hazle nut shell with a hole into the tank. What i dont understand is that they have moved into a hole they dug and not into the shell :? .
is the shell hollow or not because if not there is a chance they wont move into it

you can not control them hyper. ;) if they are not in the mood to move there they will not move there. but you can always helps them a bit. If you give them a very nice place to move into they will move in there, but it has to be just wright. Like sith said, try to give them a hollow shell.
hi all,
Thanks jim, but the shell is hollow.
p.s:
I have not seen alot of these ants now they have dug themselves in, is it because it is cold outside here?
hmm, the weather can have an influence on them but these ants are not the species that walks around hole day. ;)
Hi all,
For some reason one of my colonys if foraging like CRAZY!!! but the other colony isnt foraging at all.
will depend on the brood levels, if the queen is laying lots of eggs n theres lots of larva to feed then they will be very active, myne are particuly active at the moment, they cant deciede if they wana move out of the test tube or not, sum of the workers are taking larve into the seed shell, then others come along and bring them back lol!
That is true, if there are not much hungry mouths to feed the ants will not be foraging like crazy. ;)
