Hi, the sugar should be concentrated. You can use a solution with 50% (weight/weight). But better you use Honey with a little bit water. And you must know, that you cannot feed your ants everytime with honey or sugar. They need vitamines, minerals and aminoacids. So yu have to eed them sometimes with dead insects or a special mix with egg yolk, honey and yeast extract or somthink like that.
Good luck

I found the same, that cooked Ham is good for some kinds. You can also try sweet fruits. The insects you can cut in two halfs with a normal cutter. Than the ant may take it.

I have found that my M Rubra love spiders, dead. They demolish them within 10 minutes or so!

barnettgs: Honey for ants (25. Aug 2005 23:39)

I have honey from Antstore but I noticed that it is too thick? Is it ok to use only honey without water?

I have noticed that using water/honey or sugar, the water tension is too hard for L Niger ants to drink? How to do avoid this?

Thanks

Pagodin: (25. Aug 2005 23:51)

I would prefer you use water and honey togther, honey can be to thick and its kinda risky, the ant could get into a trap and probly would die.

Its very easy to mix it up, i use it like, 30% honey and the rest water :)
I hope that helps you
