ok thanks a lot. man these ants are going to take a long time to reach 50 workers:S.

JimmyVe: Re: when are majors coming? (3. Sep 2008 17:43)

Yes they will. ;) The colony grows very slow. So you need to have much patience with them. Good luck.

Kale^^: Re: when are majors coming? (3. Sep 2008 18:13)

It takes Herculeanus and Ligniperda about 2 years from queen to get 50 workers. Depends a lot from temperature and feed too.

moxi93: Re: when are majors coming? (3. Sep 2008 18:42)

it cant take 2 years to get 50 workers! i mean seriously i doont think it takes so long...
how often does ligniperda queen lay eggs? and how long does it take from egg to worker???

thanks

it could take up to 2 months or more, from egg to worker. If the colony grows well, yes it will take 2 years. If they grow slow it can even takes longer.

Kale^^: Re: when are majors coming? (4. Sep 2008 18:02)

2 month from egg to worker is WAY out. Its like 6-12 months (not including hibernation)

moxi93: Re: when are majors coming? (4. Sep 2008 18:02)

i underestand that it can take 2 years for the colony to grow ,maybe for like 170 workers but not a miserable amount of 50 workers. what so it takes likes 100 years for a colony to grow to the limit lol?

ive seen pictures that the queen lays like 30 eggs like in the first or second month and if it takes 2 months from egg to worker that would make a total oflike 4months not 2 years isnt that true?

anyway if what you say is true has anyone got brood to sell of ligni to boost them? ireally want some

thanks

PS: what can i do so they grow faster (food, temp etc)?

Just keep them at the wright temperature and give them good food. Let them grow natural, don't boost them ! If you like keeping ants you need patience ! These ants grow slow, if you first do a research before you buy them you would know that already, if you like a species that grows much faster you should have take another one.
