Hello.
- Who know what ants there are the biggest in the whole world?
And what ant there have the biggest queen?(:
plz help, so thx(:
The largest worker ants are probably Camponotus gigas from southeast Asia. The soldiers are about the size of hornet (3 cm). There are some longer ants, like some Myrmecia, but they are usually much thinner, and Camponotus are probably the heaviest.
The largest queens are of Dorylus genus - African nomad ants. The workers are rather average, but the queen in egg-laying time can be more than 10cm long.
But can u buy a Dorylus Genus?
no it is army ants , and their queen is able to lay 450 milions eggs/live , so it is not possible. But in one laboratory they had her and made some videos of swarming and lay eggs and etc
the biggest and in the world ... Camponotus gigas or Paraponera clavata
No the biggest queen ant in the world is the african driver ant 5cm+ there is no queen bigger than 10 cm
Kiam, tail__ is correct, Dorylus queens can reach easily 10cm+ when in an egg laying cycle, old world army ants tend to be between 1-2.5cm (workers and soldiers including mandibules) they are not particuly large ants, they dont need to be because they depend on there huge numbers to over power prey
Same goes for Ecitoninae, new world army ants, queens swell up massivly during egg laying cycle
FredeP you would have no hope of sustaining a Dorylus colony, you would need a tank several miles wide, and a bank account to match to keep up with the food and heating requirements lol I'd recomend you goto Africa and see them in action in the wild :) or South america to see the Ecitoninae in action
Camponotus gigas are generally considered to be the largest ant species in the world, due to its bulk and weight
of course: Dorylus male is bigger as female ;) (when is not queen in laying cycle)
I know ATTA queens are one of the biggest in the world.
and the biggest ant in the world is the 'Sausage fly' a Male Army Ant :)
Dorylus look more like termites than ants.
Is that Paraponera clavata that Antstore sell? Antstore says that they will have them in stock soon. They like it hot and humid don't they? But what amount of humidity and temperature is correct please? Thanks.
(I'm currently saving up for expensive ants).
