Is it possible to keep lasius niger or other lasius species in sand terrarium? What other species can live in the sand?

Lasius niger can live in sand i think because mine did ;)

Almost all ants can live in sand. ;) But if i'm not mistaken terrarium sand is very thin (like dessert sand) not ? This is not good sand to put in a farm.

Mine don't like to walk on sand.
They prefer something more sturdy where not very step casuses a miniature sand avalanche.
Really, mine sometimes just fall on teyr backs when the walk on a sand only patch.

And a lime sand mix is much much better for digging and housing.
Some sands have a natural part lime in them, so they stick good together when moist. So maybe your sand is ok, but i would not try it.
If you like to make your own sand lime mix, you would not need much lime. Dissolve it in water, mix it with sand and let it dry and heat it in the oven for disinfection.
