yeah macro lens are very expensive :(
i have a question i like to ask it doesn't concern my lasius niger colony but instead my formica fusca colony,
over the past 2 weeks i lost my first worker and i don't know why but before she died she showed symptoms of just sitting still and twitching her back legs
then the next day another worker showed the same symptoms realizing that it might be some kind of disease i killed her :( and sprayed hot water where the original ant died and the newest one, anyone have any ideas but since there has been no sign of more disease but i only have 4 workers left :(

I have normal Olympus FE-115 for small cash ,5Mpx photos ,SuperMacro profil and you can see in forum - normall family photoaparate making nice photos. You don´t need cheap photoaparate with supermacro lens ,you must have a good light  and you must trying to learn that :)

It may not have been a good idea to kill the ant, as one of my ants has survived symptons another ant did not, but then again you ocould of saved it from a painful death. Just try and keep the nest as clean as possible, and the foraging palce clean too.
thanks for the help i am trying to keep things as clean as possible but the test tube they are in is quite dirty and they don't seem to want to leave now is there anything i should do?

In my opinion (and experience) they move if necessary.
yes true they have a large ytong block to move into if necessary but im worried that the tube might be the cause of the disease for my poor formica fusca :( but so far there has been no symptoms from what i see of them as i think they prefer to forage at night when everything is quiet
if anyone has any suggestions i would love to her them

I would move them to another tube, better safe than sorry
You could tried to move them, like sced sad. If that stops you from worrying. ;) It would stress the queen and workers a bit but if you are sure they are getting the disease from the tube it is better to move them.
im not sure at all as i have no experience with diseases at all but it is quite dirty but since i killed that worker there has been no sign of the disease and i killed her at least 3 days ago and last time it didn't take long to affect her.
and if i wanted to move them how would i do it?

i think the best way to move them is, keep the tube (where they are in now) in a lighted plays (not direct sunlight) and give them another dark tube where they can go in to. If you understand what i mean. ;)
