Last night my L asius niger queen was running round like mad and weaving the cotton wool socked in water into a long thread. She was pulling bits of and rolling them into a long thread, Amazing!!!

Sadly she stop when i went to take a pic.. :cry:

Ants can doe strange things, as long as the are fine there is nothing to worry about. ;)

Ants in my M. barbarus colony are doing this all the time. They pull out the cotton and then they deposit it in arena. I don't know why they do it but I guess it keeps them occupied. :)

I have found out that the queen has used the thred to tie up all the lavae like a washing line! Strange!!

Yes that's usual. Some of my herculeanus queens have created a rope connecting both cotton ends of the tubes.
