KiamCameron: Messor barbarus and Temnothorax nylanderi (26. Jun 2008 22:41)

Well my temnothorax nylanderi colony could escape from there test tube as there was little air holes at the top and some escaped so I put them in my messor barbarus tank as I had no where else to put them from escaping and I have now opened them up so they can share the same territory as my messor barbarus will the messor barbarus fight them or leave them alone as temnothorax nylanderi are supposed to avoid other ants?

Ok tried it and it didnt work out found today about 7 messor barbarus workers included one of my biggest workers i have in the test tube attacking them so ive sealed up the tube :/

I cant even see if any has died as theres no corpses anywhere...

They would avoid other ants but your out world needs to be big enough, if it is to small they have no place to hide.

if you want to put temnothorax nylanderi with another type of ant try the yellow meadow ant there not aggressive

KiamCameron: (29. Jun 2008 01:05)

L asius flavus are aggressive but not as much as L asius niger..

gabranth: (29. Jun 2008 06:04)

or Myrmica rubra

rubra are very aggressive. If you put them in with any other ants you had better make sure they have a safe place to hide and that the other ants cannot get to the nest.

how about with camponotus ligniperda ?

SteveUK28: (29. Jun 2008 15:31)

i was gonna put my nylanderi with my ligniperda... but didnt get around to.. i would have made an enclosure for them that the ligniperda could not get into.
