i think i got a queen bee today i saw her and a male getting it on, on my porch and so went inside and grabed the biggest rx bottle i could find. but i do not know the speices could anyone help me? i cant get a pic without her excapeing and i dont have time to freeze her, but i will when i get back in 1.5 weeks. she is about 2cm long - black and grey - short stright antina (sry for any typos) - a flat stout head - with 2 relly big eyes and - mandibles about 2mm long - with an arrow shaped abdomen. i live in michigan usa what bees types would even be here?
Unless you know how to look after bee's, you should let her fly and start her own nest :)
Most bee keeping starts with pre-made hives, and starter colonies, rather than a single queen, as it can be hard to raise a queen by herself, i'd suggest you find a bee forum and get lots of info, but please let her go if you have no experience with bee's!
ok i will let her go unless i can find enough info :) but if not she will be released
Are we talking about honeybee species, if it is, she can't start her own hive by herself. She would need to go back to her hive, she then gather about half of the workers and go off and find her nest with the workers, if it isn't, then forget what i said.
yes she is and i read about beekeeping and then promptly released her lol but if i want a honey bee colony what kind are the most passive and least likely to sting? i may not answere for a while as this is my last post on her untill july 6 so take your time responding lol
I would have to say for beginners to go with the Italian variety, they are passive and perfect for beginners. Then with time and experience, you could try other subspecies.
