With my Myrmica rubra colony already in the post I began preparing the aircrete block.
I used a cheap Dremel to carve the aircrete block.
Nest partially moistened. (took approx. 48hrs to fully moisten)
nice setup you have made! thanks for sharing.
Cheers mzfckr, seemed to take nearly as long to make this post as it did the setup. :D
Great pictures Sam and you setup looks very nice to. (Maybe it took you long to post this message but it is nice and clear, great pictures and no spam. Good job :) )
Hi Sam
I have a question about these ants.
I have a Myrmica Rubra nest myself
But they are killing each other at the moment
Do you have any experiance with that?
Thats a nice tool you have for makeing the holes :D
Your Colony + Nest looks great
Well I have red on this forum ProXi about a year ago something like they will kill the older workers if there is not enough room for the colony dont know if its true or anything ;)
I have my own Myrmica Rubra and they've never killed each other. btw how many queens do you have because sometimes if you have more than one the workers will attack each other(wiki) but i do have more than one and they still don't fight. Try giving more food it may work.
Kyle
I have a big colony, 3 queens
But they might need a bigger space then or more food
I will try the food first I quess :P
I am uploading a new movie of my colony so you guys can see if I need a bigger nest...
here is already a video of a kill... :(

It's not that crowded I think?
Cheers Jimmy.
Hi Proxi,
I don't have a lot of experience with Myrmica Rubra as this is my first colony, but I haven't seen any attacking each other, I have seen some workers carrying dead / dying workers away from nest site though (obviously I remove these dead workers immediately).
You also have a nice setup. :D
