yes, fellow ant keepers, the time is here, spring is near....

all my messors have woken up, laying eggs now, they have only been out of hibernation since monday !

tell us all when your ants wake up from their long boring hibernation

My Lasius n iger are awake and my Lasius f lavus... both have a pile of eggs.. ans my flavus are being VERY clever.. have them in a test tube which is in a small tank atm.. which wont be there home.. i was planning on havin them in a farm.. however the sand is not damp at all.. just fine.. however they somehow managed to completely empty the water tube thing i had in there and have made a lot of it damp now.. so they are trying to nest in it lol.. Its not even 1cm deep lol.. very clever ants.

My south European ants are awake from last week and all of my center European ants accept the Camponotus species are awake to. (much to early if you ask me, but hey with this temperatures what can you do about it. (the nests are to big to put in a freezer. ;))

I took my Solenopsis fugax lone queen from refridgerator a week ago. I found her in September, but then she ate every egg she has laid. These queens probably need to survive winter to start a colony. Now she has a pile of eggs and keep laying more :)

Nice to hear that all your colonies are waking up without problems. ;) Mine are almost all awake, only 2 are still in hibernation.

all of mine are awake.. and already lost one worker from my very small ligniperda colony.. She thought she could swim in water.. i have now added a cotton wool ball and there is no chance at all of any of the others thinking they can swim..

Hello, my Camponotus cruentatus are awake, and some of the small larvea that went through hibernation and survived have started to grow already, and yes theres a nice fresh pile of eggs, im amazed how swiftly they begin to pick up where they left off, i mean queen starts laying almost emiedeatly, i thought that there might be a warm up prosess, but no zoooooooooom staight back into the old routine, i'l soon have a huge colony, i know this species is sposed to be a slow mutliplyer, but as i have nothing to compare, they seem pretty quick to me..!
