Also ordered myself a new camera, a Pentax k100D with a 9-100mm extention tube, so shuld have sum nice pics to! 8) was only £215/€300, less than half its retail value
hmm, so tell me where did you bag that bargain?.... im about to spend £200 but dont mind paying a little more for a better camera...
ebay run a search for pentax k100D, theres a few left at £215 buy now ;) be quick tho, they are ex display, and will sell very fast! the extention tube i got seperatly, its not a autofocus tube, but thats fine, coz for good macro shots, manual is better ;)

Nice camera man, I considered it for a while as it got nice reviews everywhere. The thing that put me off was small choice of lenses. So now I have Canon Eos 40D. :king01:
WTH is 9-100 mm extention tube??? I know there are 25 mm, 50 mm, 100mm, but 9-100 I haven´t heard about. Any links?
What kind of lense did you buy with the camera?
Theres a few diffrent extention tubes about, u can get them much longer, the on I have is acutually a 66 and 44 combined (both made up of smaller ones)
I'm using the standard kit lens 18-55 (2.5-5.6) nice and fast :D I will be using a reversing ring aswell, as the extention tube reduces the light quiet a bit, hopefully will find a nice zoom aswell....so all joined together...
80-300mm zoom > 100m extention tube > reversing ring + 18-55 should = some pretty damn good macro shots :D
the k100D also has image stabalization, from what I've read this is digital stablization, but there is a dedicated 0.8mp for that, so you dont loose any resolution :D
80-300mm zoom > 100m extention tube > reversing ring + 18-55 should = some pretty damn good macro shots :D
Hmm... I don´t have enough experience to be the judge of it, but as far as I know (my theoretical knoledge) ... 100 mm extension tube will take a lot of light, also 80-300 zoom is probably not f/1,2 so I think to make a good makro photo you will need very strong light and an ant standing perfectly still. I have doubts that you will make good photo with this set up...if any at all... but then again my knoledge is only theoretical. I´ve never tried it myself.
Good luck anyway
yeah for sure, i will use it in combination with a lens lighting cap and a fast shutter speed, i'm not going to try the zoom lens just yet, will get to grips with the lighting and arp settings with the tube first
