Nice steve, yes put them in hibernation soon, they need it. ;) They are in deed big (one of the biggest ants in Europe). Good luck.

Yes, very nice Steve :)
C. ligniperda is the biggest ant in paleartic region, after C. Hercoleanus.

Wishes for your colony :)

Looks very nice Steve! I' ve got myself this species too

Yeah, good luck with your Camponotus ligniperda! They are nice ants. But they need long time to grow (the colony), thats a pity.

JimmyVe: (16. Dez 2007 17:48)

in deed, they are slow developers. Give them a nice hibernation now and you can start in spring to make a great colony of them. ;)

Sound.. my new test tubes arrived today so i have connected one to the plastic tube she is in now... She has water both ends of the tubes plugged with cotton wool.. one has sugar water the other plain water.. and a small tablet of honey.. which i still dont think they have touched lol.. i did try a spider.. but nothing... saying that it was very hard.. as if they had sucked out its blood lol.. maybe they did :P
anyway she is doin great and tomorrow il stick her in a cold room to start her hibernation :D

They eat not much cause normally they are at the moment in hibernation. And Antstore keep em in hibernation before sending them....
