look around da forum its REALLY good help, this will answer your questions and other info u might want to know about these species!!!.................because i even checked myself i know the answer is there :)

Yeah, every user advert the search function ;)
The best temperature for hibernation is between 4° and 8° C i believe. But Google is an helpful instrument ;)
Look from where your ants are and look for the actual temperature.....thats the best way :)

I was able to drop the temperature of my nest to 10 and there seems to be no activity anymore. I just wonder if that's cold enough.

JimmyVe: (24. Nov 2007 18:40)

here we go again ;)
(i'm sure i already put this somewhere on this forum, but don't know where... ;) )

Central European ants: between 0-10c°
South European ants : between 10-15°c

And i hope if you keep a species that you know where it comes from.

pphakkar: (24. Nov 2007 18:50)

For the beginning this 10c° seems to work with Finnish ants too - no moving anymore.

ant dude: (24. Nov 2007 19:14)

jimmve u did mate, quite a few times really

u should'nt just ask questions without running a search or checking the forum first it does annoy people im sure! just check before asking next time ok ](*,)

Purifier: (24. Nov 2007 19:16)

Hmmm 10°C seems a bit too warm for me :-k
But its the maximum temperature JimmyVee writes. Look for them and watch them. And for the temperature too. When they dont move in the future and you could hold the temperature im sure it works....

hi guys
sometimes when you are working hard and you don,t have the time to look through the forum,i think it is less time consuming to pop a little question in to you guys that know, so as to get a quick answer.
this is not intended to offend, just letting you know my reasoning.

Purifier: (25. Nov 2007 20:06)

Yeah. But when you write "Lasius niger hibernation" in the search tool you find good answers. And that dont cost much time ;)
And "old rabbits" dont want to answer that question 3 times a day :)

But its no problem. We are not angry about you ;)
