Hi all. I want to ask you about Crematogaster species. This summer, I was on Malta island, and there was Crematogaster scuteralis. I think, I want keep them. Are they hard to keep? What are the most interesting species from this breeding family? I´m chosing between Cremato scuteralis and rogenhoferi, which is better? Can I keep them in ytong nest?
Thanks, Messorus
Hi Messorus,
Crematogaster is a very big genera. There are many species, native as well as exotic.
Crematogaster rogenhoferi is an exotic species. They aren't as easy to keep as C. scutellaris.
Crematogaster scutellaris is relativly easy to keep. The colonies grow very fast, but mind they can become very big.
Crematogaser scutellaris is kept best in a ytong. Crematogaster rogenhoferi likes kinda 'carton' nests, but they will already be in one when they arrive. They are sent in the original nests, they lived in before.
Regards
Yes I know, I saw some videos and one good web page about Cremato rogenhoferi and they was always in their naturaly nest.. It´s a pity, because you can´t see queen... So I will be searching for scuterallis, I´m planing big set- up in all my room...
Please, give here more posts and information, I need to know more... Thanks :discus01: :director:
