Thanks, Jimmy

Im also thinking at buying pheidole pallidula so im asking that do i need anything special for them, i think i need to buy a heater lamp? And can they live in this kind of a nest?: http://www.antstore.net/shop/popup_image.php?pID=28&imgID=0
if i connect a antisland to there for a feeding arena? or do they need a wider nest? Also are they very difficult to keep and raise? It would not be my first specia to keep but im always cautious :)

Oh, or would this starter set be enough for them http://www.antstore.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=751&cPath=58

I would very much like to watch inside their nest for their activities so all advices are good :)

Hi Alkio,
i think you better take the starter set. They don't need much to survive, just keep the heat about 25°C and the humidity about 60% that will do it.
(a heater lamp is ok, i also use it)

If you have questions, just ask ;)

Very much thanks for the help :). Im going to get that starter set at the summer when my job is over and i have more money. Also do they need to hibernate? I read its possible but should i do it then and for how long?

And where should i put the heaterlampthingy? :) (the best location), is there any good heaterlamp products in antstore, like this one? http://www.antstore.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=88&cPath=
Or is there any better than that one?

Oh and almost forgot that do i need somekind heatingadjusters for keeping the heat in 25°C :o, or is it done by the heating lamp?

And, in that starter set formicarium, can i see well their activities etc? (sorry for spelling?)

JimmyVe: (25. Mai 2006 14:40)

Hibernate (you mean, sleeping during the winter) Yes from October till mars. You need to be sure the temperature stay's below 10°c.

This heater lamp seems OK, you can also take this one: http://www.antstore.net/shop/product_info.php?products_id=94&cPath=46

i have a thermostat that adjust the temperature.

You can see there activities outside the nest, inside it's difficult. if you want to see the activities inside the nest maybe you better take an Y-tong nest.

Alkio: (25. Mai 2006 15:46)

Thanks for fast answer :). Well i thought i could see their activities inside if their nest is thin enough, that formicarium i mean.

Is there any thermostat things sold in here which ones could adjust tempeture of the nest? Or do you mean your room where you keep the ants has that thermostat thing..?
