Earlier this year I kept a colony of Myrmica rubra in a home made Formicarium. The ants came from my garden, I don't think I had a queen and after 4 months all were died out.
The Formicarium was made from a spare glass double glazing unit filled with earth, it had a vent at the top and a side tube to a feeding box.
What I would like to know is how much space should I provide for the new colony of Rhytidoponera metallica?

I think 60x30x30cm will do for the moment but be prepaired for a greater one!
