I really dont get it, you guys have som many species in North America, why dont you look for a queen yourself?
Just have a look at this link, it might help you.
Good luck!
well, for some reason theres only these tiny ants (like 2 mm or less). ive been looking for larger varieties cuz i know they exist, but they're not that common. and i see some fireants, but only at school. i live in southern california if that means anything? i havent seen much variation even though ive moved a couple times...
and thanks for link... but it didnt work. lol

Funny, they link works for me :? are you on AOL perhaps?
ok it works now. thanks. but what would be helpful is a place that tells you how to get, or sells, queens -_- lol
Charles17 I am pretty darned familiar with the area you live in. Admittedly down in the Arcadia area itself, you will likely only find Argentine ants, however just a few minutes away is the Angeles National Forest. There is an incredible diversity of ants there. In addition just a short drive further is the Mojave Desert with it's huge ant diversity. There are plenty of ants in your area, you just need to go get them.
As much as I am all for shipping ants, Fire Ants and Argentine Ants are species I would not want to see traded/bought/sold.
t's weird how non americans keep talking about the so called 'ant diversity' of the U.S. All I want to know is ...where are they?? Charles17 rest assured there are a ton of other Americans out here who understand your pain. The restrictions and complete lack of ant vendors in the U.S is indeed very frustrating. I wish Gordon C. Sneling could also tell me how to acquire/find a larger ant species in the state of Georgia.
u culd contact your local nature reserves and ask them what species of ant they have there, find out if there are any with mass mating flights that are not endrged (duno if theres any endangered ants in the us), then go down n get sum :D
