badman: any reason why ants would reject a larva? (21. Jun 2009 20:06)

One of my Myrmica ruginodis came out of the nest earlier with one larva and ran around randomly for a bit then dumped it in the corner. I've had ants move larvae out of the nest before, but only to warm them, and they would usually guard it too. Is it just a dead or bad larva?

Probably a dead larva. When the colony gets bigger you will see this happen more times.
