Deanola: Bullant Queen (10. Aug 2004 00:43)

While im waiting for my queen to arrive i wanted to ask for a bit of information from you!

i have set up an aquarium pretty similar to the one in your galleries,

I have read that i can make up a jelly consisting of agar, egg, water, honey and multivitamin capsules for the adult ants and queen, is this ok?

what will the queen feed on while she is laying her brood?

i have used only sand in the aquarium, i have pressed it down so it is compressed. should i add water to this?

is there anything else i should do or think of about looking after this species/queen.

Thanks for any help...

P.s.

I have also read that prey items are only caught to feed young larvae, is this true or will adult ants feed on prey items also?

= For some ants you can do it, but the best food is a natural food. insects and nectar

> what will the queen feed on while she is laying her brood?

=the most ant queens, dosn't need food at the first time. but if the first workers, tha you need food.

= better you use sand and loam with water, than you have a hard material.

= For some other ants it is right, but by the bullants like larvae and adult ants the prey items.
