I caught my first queen today! While I was walking my dog I noticed a queen ant crawling across the ground. She was trying to rip her wings off. I watched and waited till she finished then caught her in a test tube. On the way back I also saw a HUGE dead carpenter ant queen. She was at least 3.5 cm long. One problem now, my mom HATES ants. They're her mortal enemy. Oh well, she'll deal.
I woke today to find that my queen had escaped. She had tunneled through the cotton at the opening and ran off. I guess I'll have to be more carefull next time.
