Hiya Guys,
I was just wondering what does everyone feed there ants??
I normaly use just mixed crickets, and the occasional Wax worm, and sometimes some Ham. Im looking for new ideas.. So please.. Everyone list whatever you feed your ants.. and im talking about protien foods not sugar.
Also has anyone tried the following: Phoenix Worms, Butter Worms, Fruit Beetle Grubs(Pachnoda), Giant Lob Worms or Roaches?
Regards
Steve :D
on rare occasion ill get morio worm larvae cut in half after being frozen then itll go all horrid but ants come out in masses for it and locusts they seem too like more then crickets
I mainly feed my ants boiled roaches (Blaptica dubia, they love them), but I will also feed them just about any other invert (spiders, phasmids, flys, crix, locusts etc).
My ants are not too fond of mealworms or superworms, but I have superworms breeding in my Messor tank which they sometimes catch.
Earth worms are good once they have dried out abit (ants don't like the slime).
And blood worm are loved, when ever I can get some.
I feed them all kind of bugs. Everything i can find. ;)
Most of the time
roaches
grasshopers
crickets
morioworms
mealworms
....
I feed my ants crickets, silverfish, firebrats an mealworms. Sometimes I catch musquito's from outside, which I feed them, But that's more because I don't like musquito's 8)
whatever I can find really. Moths, daddy long legs etc. Anything that flies seems to go down well. I had a house plant that was infested with weavils, and my Camponotus really liked those.
I've been giving this dried bloodworm to my Myrmica rubra, mainly because it's convenient, they can eat large amounts in one go and always seem to come back for more. My other colonies don't enjoy it so much.
