Do we REALY need ANOTHER nuptial flights thread? there are so many others on the go already, it just makes the forum harder to read, espcially for people who cant be bothered to use search......Jimmy could you merge them all?
As it goes highered, nuptial flights occour at diffrent times accross the country, there where flights in the SW of england at the end of June, early July in Lancashire and wales, a few weeks ago again in Wales, and SE england, and now London and mid-england, and wherever u are, some flights will occour as late as August, depending on the weather and the local area. No one said they wont happen till the end of august, they said they may not happen until the end of august, and that was based on experience and understanding of how nuptial flights occour, but its pretty much always a guess :) next year it will be diffrent again
and here in South Wales.. Newport area!
Oxford UK, lasius niger and Flavus 22nd and 23rd July
Seaford, East Sussex, I caught loads of Lasius niger queens, just from my garden!
(all mated of course  )
Tervuren, Belgium
Lasius niger and Lasius flavus were flying out today.
I caught a couple of L. flavus queens! :D
Lasius niger, flavus and umbratus (90% sure its umbratus) yesterday :D
John did you collect many umbratus?
Jimmy could you merge them all?
Consider it done. ;)
Today here in Belgium is was a big flight, i saw about 4 different species of Lasius i captured a few. Pictures will be online later. ;)
@ JimmyVe: The only two species I saw flying out today were Lasius niger and Lasius flavus, which other species you saw?
Maybe I thought they were all one of these two but actually they were not. :?
John did you collect many umbratus?
Only 4, 2 have died however, now I have the dilema of choosing which of my colonies is going to be invaded by one of the remaining queens...and its possible she may fail
(umbratus are parasitic, u cant raise them from queen)
