Mr_Jason,
These ants eat up numerous native and interesting ant species as well as other creatures that once have been in your area. Why do you try to rescue such ants?
Incidentally, your avatar also shows an introduced pest ant, the Black-headed ant Tapinoma melanocephalum. Do you have some strange preference for such nasty organisms?
I am worried!

I'm not on a mission to rescue fireants. I captured 28 queens from a backyard. From the backyard they'll go into formicariums in San Antonio (I already have a place for 2 of them). Every yard in San Antonio has a fireant colony. Trust me, I'm not spreading the evil fireant species in any way  . You have nothing to worry about 8) .
Yes, I have a nasty little Tapinoma melanocephalum queen and some workers. Damn pest  . All ants in this city are pest, just ask any pest control guy. I guess I just fell in love with my nasty little ghost ant queen  .
I'll take almost any queen ant species that comes my way. Where I live you can't just buy queens. You must find them.
I can't wait to watch my fireant colony grow. They're a very interesting species. They've been stinging me all my life, now I get to watch them up close :D .
i dont care that ghost ants are pest because they look so cool ! :)
Did you try placing more than one Queen together?
No, why?
No, why?
Some times in the wild new Queens will start colonies in groups. This is called pleometrosis. I know you might have read you can't keep two Queens together but this is only after the Queens have formed their own separate colonies. When you catch 'brand new' Queens, they might tolerate living together. This is not true with all species, however. It is much more common in ant species that tolerate multiple Queen colonies. After the first workers hatch, the new ants might kill all the Queens until one is left or they may keep them all. Ants are confusing little critters. ;)
In other words... Fire Ants are known to have colonies with many Queens. They are also known to start colonies by pleometrosis. I would try it with fire ants to see the results.

You probably wouldn't have much problems in Latvia, due to low temperature.
But I guess you would think different in a place where these cool ants run around between your restroom, the kitchen, and on your meals. Lol.

probably :P
If I saw that many Queens, I would not be able to stop collecting them as well :)
Nice. I found about 6 black and red carpenter Queens in my yard already without trying - no matter what I am doing I drop it and run for a test tube
Hehe, good for you 4mykids. :)
