Thats exactly the same what we have here, the temperature is around 15° throughout the day and plummets to around 0° in the night. So i hope the cold nights will prevent her from laying eggs.

yeah well i think the weather is going to be like this for a while, its still to early before the frosts at night stop.

If she is moving that does not mean she is awake. ;) I think as long if there are no eggs you don't need to worry.

oh darn i have a huge pile of eggs in my LN(lasius niger) test tubes should i take them in?

JimmyVe: (11. Feb 2008 23:39)

That probably means she (they) are awake, yes i think it is better to take them in.

ducatiman: (13. Feb 2008 19:54)

i have just done this as mine had a pile of eggs too,i dont thik it will affect them too much as they had 4 months hibernation (correct me if im wrong )

ratgreen: (13. Feb 2008 22:09)

yer i supose so i bring them in yesterday and ate my protien honey so im waiting for some huge workers now

JimmyVe: (14. Feb 2008 16:32)

4 Months is good (5 would be better ;) ) but they are going to do just fine.

Good luck

Hi all

Noticed today 1 or 2 foraging L asius niger in the garden but still no sign of any Myrmica rubra.

My recent Tetramorium c aespitum aquisition managed at some point to make their way out of the test tube and I assume they are somewhere within the ant basin. I have not seen sight of them but this is not suprising as they shoud be hibernating.

Maybe should see something late March?
