alias: Re: Shipping to Romania (13. Okt 2008 09:40)

Hello. I want to order a Lasius niger Colony, queen + 11-25 workers, but the delivery price is simply too prohibitive. I mean how could a pakage that is worth 6,90 EURO cost +70 EURO to be delivered to Romania. Unfortunately for me it is late autumn around here and I could not get a queen this year, so I might have to wait till next year, that is if I cannot find a seller online that has Lasius niger queen for sale. 7 euro for the colony is OK, nut more than 70 euro to deliver it is too much for me.

PS - Dont know why Antstore wont deliver to Romania via DHL, we have DHL here...

PPS - If anyone knows a good source of L. niger queen, please PM me. Thanks alot :)

Hello alias,

yes GLS is very expensive for shipping to Romania - so we will ask DHL ober the price.

But now we can offer you to shipping by letter for 6,50 Euro on your own risk. :)

Greetings

Hello Alias and :sign_welcome:.

It are the companies that deliver packages who charges so much. Antstore don't charge for the shipping.
Like Uta said, you can order by letter. That way Antstore sends it with the mail and that is a lot cheaper but than they can not guaranty that the shipping will arrive (in time).

Thanks guys for the replies. I undersottd from the begining that the shipping companies are charging that much, not Antstore. What I was trying to say was that it doesn't make any sense to keep GLS as a shipping provider, at least to Romania. I cannot imagine anyone who will want to use this transport option, and to pay that much, at least not any romanian people that I know of :?

Any idea how long does it takes for the colony to reach Romania by letter? Is it safe for the colony to be shipped that way and how will the colony be packed, because I am guessing that it wont be in a normal test tube because of the size... Am I right? Thanks again for replying to me :)

PS - I am so new to this, so "noob" and so full of joy and dying to start my first ant colony. After careful reading the forums for about 2 weeks, I decided to register, and get my own colony. Just started building a Y-TONG nest for them yesterday :)

It is a small package, not a real letter. ;) They will be send in a tube in a small package. How long it takes i don't know, depends on the post office i think.

GLS is the cheapest way to send stuff from Germany to Belgium. :)

Its really nice that you are interested in ants and you are going to start your first colony, don't forget it is nearly hibernation time so they will be inactive for a few months.

I have to admit Alias is right.. some shippin charged are just really daft. Can antstore not renegotiate with these companys for a better price. Or perhaps even find a new company that will ship cheaper. :D

Martin S.: Re: Shipping to Romania (16. Okt 2008 13:55)

We have no experience how long need a letter from Germany to Romania?
The problem with the high price is, that the shipping/packet volume is smaller as to a other european countries.

regards
Martin
