I have colony of this spec and they don't seem to dig i don't think they weave like Polyrhachis dives do as it does not say that on the description of them on antstore.
i resently went to antstore in berlin and they said they would fine for this formicarium.
i have them in a glass xl farm 3Ox2Ox6 connected to a 3Ox2Ox2O the xl farm is filled with sand loam mix and all they seem to do is sit on the surface
they are at a temp of 24-26C
thanks, lewis
they do not dig. http://antbase.org/ants/publications/14656/14656.pdf this will have many good information about your new ants.
hi donbilbo,
thanks so what should i put in the set up for them to make their nest out of because all they are doing is sitting in the tube connecting the two basins and coming out in the late afternoon for food.
are they like dives do they weave their nests with larvea?
and now i have this xl basin full of sand and they are doing nothing.
Lewis.. just a quick question.. What experience do you have with ants?
In the PDF you will find exact descriptions about different polyrhachis ants and their typical behaviour. my choice for these ants would be a ytong-nest or maybe some big rotten pice of wood with some caves in it.
well i have a colony of M yrmica rubra with 7 queens and about 5OO workers and now they have hundreds of queen larvea
a colony of Lasius niger with loads of larvae and about 2O workers and 1 queen.
T etramorium caespitum 1OO workers a queen and lots of pupea and larvae.
C amponotus ligniperda queen with eggs and a few larvea
and P olyrhachis illaudata in a large set up.
You should share some images. :) Allways lovely to see the setups of successful colonies.
i have loads of photo's but am not shure how to put them on here
