Last night, when i was observing the colony a lot of workers suddenly appeared out of the nest. It was amazing. In just a few seconds about a hundred workers appeared to the surface. Just a few minutes before this event i placed several cruelly killed crickets in the antfarm. Unfortunately i wasn't able to film the event, because it happened all of a sudden. What you see now is what happened after they spotted the food.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX35

I recently figured out it had a video function on it. Also with macro in HD.

sweet, what a bit of luck, haha.

What other species do you keep? I am new to ants, after years of keeping other things, fish, reptiles, arachnids, mantids...etc. Are these ants from australia?

cheers,

Guy

These species are from Asia. Its one of the hardest species to keep.

They need it warm and a high humidity but they do not like fungus, its a hard combenation.

Hi Jimmy,

That does sounds tricky, how do you guys combat the mould and fungus that would surely grow.

best,

Guy

You try to keep the basin as clean as possible.

I got some pics.
