really good photos! Must have been special to see the queen take care of business. Where's the video camera when you need it!
I keep a small colony of Odontoponera transversa. Not as exiting as your Odontomachus, that's for sure.
I was in the service and did some training in Panama. it was very wet, very dark, and full of nasty ants. I say nasty because these individuals were very nasty. Never looked at them though, wasn't a good idea at the time, but I wouldn't mind going back there and looking at those ants now.
Hey guys
Today I saw in the garden a very tiny odontomachus, like 4 mm, brownish colour. It was a pity that I was without my camera. Does anybody knows an odontomachus like this?

Melk.... European keepers can´t know your species in Brazil, but I trust you that these ant was very nice  Take a look at the ant list of Brazil, and of the part of Brazil where you live... I think you will find about 200 species from this genus :D So there´s small chance that we will know wich´s your ant...
It's true, Messorus!!! The problem is that we have not a forum about ants here in Brazil!
So I need to do academic research!!

Try the american forum that someone linked to somewhere... They have a very high degree of expertise on that site. It's quite amazing. Let
me find the link.
EDIT: Here's the link.
My new odontomachus queen got eggs!!! Cool! :P

Nice ant! How did you caught her?
Very nice melk, nice ant and nice picture. ;)
It was wandering here, in my garden. When I got it had yet the wings, but in the very same night it lost it. I'm making some experiment with adoption between different specie, but with odotomachus it is still very early, when the queen get the larvaes than I'll do again. I got larvaes from a huge camponotus queen and gave them to the small and light orange camponotus queen and thi is taking care of the other larvaes like a great adoptive mum. I wanna see if the odontomachus would adopt a camponotus. It would be very interesting.
hugs
Ants from the same species adopt larvae (in most cases) but i doubt if it would work with other species.
Good luck with your experiment. ;)
