The colony founding in all Myrmecia species isn´t claustral at all. The queens eat sugar and any other food the colony later on eats, too.
There aren´t any hints I could give you. I never rised a queen, once rised a virgine one, that was very easy. I also never heard that there are any problems in rising Myrmecia pavida.

Thank you! It is my first exotic queen from Australia so I just wanted to cover all the angles :)

Wow, wonderful. I would love to own a queen of this species. I will have to try and look for a Paraponera here in Brazil, I have seen some Paraponera clavata ants but never a queen.

Edit: All Myrmecia females put eggs, don't they? So if I got a worker, would it be possible to start a colony?

@mtrein, no Myrmecia brevinoda don´t have gamergates. I belive that there is a species of Myrmecia that does have gamergates but I´m not sure which one and for sure it isn´t avaidable here nor will be in the close future.

Yes but on antstore description it writs the queen of myrmecia pavida is about 35mm and workers 30mm and so is like myrmecia brevinoda

The easiest way to tell is by the coloration of their jaws. Myrmecia pavida has lighter yellowish jaws, meanwhile Myrmecia brevinoda has darker reddish jaws.

Cheers :)
