Hugely envious of your amazing colony. Well done, it is really inspiring for a newbie like myself to see such a great thread and pictures. Are they still doing well?
all the best,

NIce But can you show us all the nest pls ;)

Why can't we spend about 400 euros on these ants if we save up? There is no realistic laternative that I can see...
PS Are you ever going to sell these please?
I just checked the previous topic, now I see who you probably convinced to get you those....
I am a bit confused now. Can you someone please write clearly the worker and queen size of Myrmecia pavida AND Myrmecia brevinoda? Thanks.
I have seen various contradicting measurements on the internet. I mean if Myrmecia brevinoda workers are twice as big as Myrmecia pavida then are Myrmecia pavida workers 2cm (20mm) long and Myrmecia brevinoda workers 4cm (40mm) long? But even that doesn't make sense as the Myrmecia brevinoda queen would then be about 4.5cm (45mm).
Thanks guys for your help.
I like it very much!
@highered, if you want I can make you a photo of my dead Myrmecia pavida.
Indeed Myrmecia pavida workers are about 2cm and the queens are about 2,5cm or bigger (mesurements from dried dead ants).
I can´t look for Myrmecia brevinoda right now but know that they are much bigger but I´m pretty sure that they are not 4cm.
Really that small? Thats about the same size as my old African ants. 3cm sounds a better deal for Myrmecia brevinoda though.
Once one has obtained a gravid Myrmecia pavida queen, are there any tips as to proper care in the founding stage? I doubt she's fully claustral.
