How thick is the PTFE layer. It should be at least three times the size of a H. venator worker. This is around 6cm. Though, two times and a lid is just fine. ;)

Furthermore i think that your setup is just fine. Better would be to upload a picture. This way it is easier to judge. It is not neccesary to place sand on the test tube. This way makes it also harder to replace the test tube.

Hi guys, sorry i havenlt replied to my thread recently, i have been pretty busy.

So the colony has moved into the testtube nest on the cold side. It took until last sunday for them all to have moved over of their own accord. They are eating alot now, mostly b. lateralis juveniles. Also i have seen some of the larvae are huge, like the size of the workers and much fatter. They have collect many "boulders" of the sand loam mix and used them to make a pile by the entrance / exit of the tube. They are getting less shy and activelt hunting around the basin, only in ones and twos though. I will try them on some maggots this week.

I have very lightly sprayed the basin twice and make sure they have water in their bowl all the time. I hope to post picture of the basin tonight.

I can highly recommend this species, they are very interesting with fantastic eyesight.
