yea, the thread got slightly off course;)
Seems like C.sericeus steals food of bypassing ants, by the way. At least thats what i heard;)
Expect some more pics over the weekend, when i get time to look them through and work on the better ones.
greetings,
Necturus

interestin Necturus, do you know if they Kill the ant before stealin the food or just grab and run?

JimmyVe: (30. Nov 2007 17:57)

Didn't knew that Necturus, so they don't capture there own food ?

Necturus: (30. Nov 2007 22:59)

Hey guys,
mizt, seems like thes just kind of "snatch" it out of the mandibles of passing ants and make a run for it. Not sure if i can provoke that behaviour in captivity...

Jimmy, they do go for their own food. But seems like they add to their diet that way ;)

And since i had a few minutes at hand, i polished some pics:

Taken shortly after arrival, with around 6 or 7 eggs, resting in darkness now after i supplied a tiny drop of honeywater at 24-25°C. No changes after one week of her stay under my protection.

German report can be found here , probably going to add one in the english part of this forum. My time is still limited, so we'll all have to be patient and see ;)

I still waiting for eggs :) , my queen is ok , but today I´ll must try what she wants to eat , because she doesnt want my insects and honeywater. Some special mixture ;) . Nice photos.

Great pictures Necturus.
It would be in deed difficult to do that in captivity (let them steal food from other ants) but i think it nice to see (not for the ants that has been stolen. ;) )

Hope she will have eggs soon Skippy.
