Hello guys

The vacations will start next tuesday, 23th. I was concerning about how I would feed the ants, because I'll spend one month in a island here in Brazil. Actually I would need a pratical feeder, kind of automatic  , that could stand for a month feeding the little ones. So I cutted two pieces of a pen pipe, 3 cm each one. I closed one extremity and poured an amount of honey inside it. The density of the honey keep it inside, even with the pipe in the horizontal position. But even so I glued a little piece of wood bellow the open extremity, to keep the open inclined up. I'm using only honey, because it has bactericidal properties, so it never get spoiled, so it can be there for one month. The ants can feed themselves going inside the pipe without any problem. The same things were done with the second pipe, but this one will have water inside. And I'll be travelling around without any worries about my babies.

Hugs

That is a good idea, still it would harm if you had someone who could check up on them once in a while. And maybe give them some fresh insects.

Happy Holidays !

Yes. I have at home the peanuts beetles (Palembus dermestoides), do you know this? I use give to the ants the beetle new changed, when it is still white and soft. I could ask my mother to feed them with this beetle, but I'm suuuure she would hate it. ;^) She's scared of anything with 6 legs.

Hugs...
And Merry Christmas 8)

=D>
The feeder has worked very well . When I tarvelled to the island, the vacations, in the antfarm had only three nurses, now they are nine. And this happened in 18 days. Uhuuuu! So the feeder is just perfect and now I know the importance of to give pure water, and not only juice... It seems that the water made possible a bigger larvae production and development.

Thanks Jimmy!
I was talking about the necessity of pure water inside the ant farm, with a friend, and he considered something very interessant: "When the ants are thirst they don't look after juice, because juice is food, they look after pure water."
