Well, the seller has informed me that he will be sending me my ants on Wednesday 11th April and should arrive on Thursday 12th. 8).

Lewis: Re: Camponotus nicobarensis (10. Apr 2012 20:06)

The seller just sent me a email telling me that the ants have been sent this mourning and will be hear tomorrow!! :)
the set up is ready and i have added one more tank on because these ant grow fast and the more room the better.
Photos soon:)

They just arrived and I placed their tube in the out world. They all came swarming out and started drinking honey water and eating a spider. There are around 100 workers with 2 queens and loads of brood. one worker has gone down the tube to the larger out world and explored it and returned. They have all move into the leaf litter and have started moving it around. I hope they don't stay there, but I don't think they will be able for much longer anyway. a couple of workers have gone up the stick to the tube leading to the Y-tong but turned back. Their were many callow ants and a huge clump of freshly laid eggs. when all the pupae have hatched the colony will be at around 120 workers.

update

Lewis: Re: Camponotus nicobarensis (11. Apr 2012 16:45)

Well they have started to slowly move towards the Y-tong and have fully explored the larger tank. they are very active and came out of the test tube instantly and had some honey water. they are very beautiful ants.

This was the best packaging I have ever seen.

Glad they arrived safely for you lewis, and looks like a bit of a bargain too with all those ants,,well done.

Lewis: Re: Camponotus nicobarensis (11. Apr 2012 18:23)

Cheers Andie, I will continue to update as the colony grows.

:)

Lewis: Re: Camponotus nicobarensis (11. Apr 2012 19:44)

Another update: the ants were calmly sitting under some leaf litter while a couple of workers chewed on a cricket. Then all of a sudden one of the scouting majors returned from the y-tong after walking around and scrutinising it for around an hour, and all hell broke loose. They were frantically moving the queens and brood up the steep stick down the tube at uncontrollable speeds and into the y-tong. This lasted about 5 minutes.
But when I tried to attach the video I took of them it just said: The extension avi is not allowed. Can anyone tell me how to make it compatible?
