TheWoolman: Getting Atta cephalotes (10. Aug 2014 14:07)

Hopefully next year I am getting a colony of leaf cutter ants. But due to the price of them I really want to get it right so can some of you please teach me the ins and outs of the amazing species.

I know there are plenty of care sheets but I wanted to get an insight from people who have kept them.

Also apart from size what is so difficult about keeping them?

The journals are a big help and will make a good starting point. Aside from there growth rate (which is unreal!) they need constant temprature, humidity and a big leaf supply. Even I was shocked with how fast they go through leaves, and once they take off there is no stopping them.
