Hello All , well i am just doing a quick update, Other then a few things not alot has changed. The fungus garden is growing well but i have a few concerns. In my last colony during this founding stage while the colony was small i noticed alot of larva , pupae and new workers almost every week, with this colony im finding very little larva , or pupae or new workers, occasionally i have seen a new worker and a worker carrying a larva across the fungus garden so im not to concerned as of yet. Also they are still cutting :D and adding leaves to the fungus garden 8) so things are ok at the moment.
The queen seems healthy and active and also i managed to get the ants to build a second fungus garden :P I took a spoon and gently cut a bit of the fungus garden with aload of workers on it and placed this in the next container , they took awhile to settle down and a few workers started to move bits of the fungus garden back to the original garden but after a few hours they had stopped and when i put in some leaves they not only carried pieces back to the first fungus garden , they also started adding leaves to this new one :P
A few more pictures

Also hows things Andie did you ants arrive ??
Hi Adam, they were sent yesterday and arrive 9 am this morning. On opening the box i noticed the queen was on top of the fungus and larvae and pupae scattered everywhere. Must have had a bumpy ride. Just got home for lunch and the queen has gone to the bottom of all the tissue and the workers have collected the larvae and deposited them around her but leaving the fungus. Ill sort this out when i finish work tonight.
Great news mr , cannot wait to hear your experiances. Pics would be great aswell

So i got home and looked forward to moving the fungus into one of the small boxes like Adams but there was no form to it just a pile of dust. The queen was still under the paper at the bottom of the plastic sandwich container it all arrived in, so i carefully peeled back the paper to find another pile of dust :( There could be another somewhere i suppose. Anyway i took a pic and it actually looks healthy but would like another opinion please, it seems to be covered with the white fiberous strands that the ants feed on and the ants are tending to both gardens. :)
Iv'e decided not to disturb anything and wait a while to see if it grows in situ. The whole thing is placed in a small 36L x 24H x 21D cm arena at 23.5 c with 82 RH with Bisque tiles.
Iv'e also cut off access to the pipes ..

Hello Andie could you take anymore pics of the gardens ? the one pic there is that what the whole garden looks like ?.
Nice larva and pupae and eggs =D>
Looking good guys :D
Hey Adam,
How's your colony doing at the moment? Is your 'second' fungus still growing? The pictures are looking very good again!
I was wondering why you scooped up a piece of the original fungus.... Aren't the ants supposed to start a new one themselves? And how did you make sure you didn't damage/hurt the larvea and eggs that were in the fungus?
