I think that they are C ataglyphis nodus..

I live in greece. I found them at tripoli of peloponisos . altitude 700m.
Their size:
queen:15-17cm
workers:6-16cm

I would like to know queen's lifetime and if they need hibernation when winter comes. Any info about keeping these species would be usefull!

Thank you.

I would agree with you that this Cataglyphis nodus are.
They hold not hibernate and they need lots of room to run.

Well the do hibernate. However they hibernate unter quite high temperatures. I think about 15°C is enough for them to hibernate.

They need very high temperatures and a lot of space since they very active and very activley hunt. Also their basin should be fairly dry, the nest should be a little moist.
Cataglyphis colonies grow very fast when you have the right temperatures.

I belive there is no data about the lifetime of a queen but I assume that it will be well above 10 years.

I´m not sure about the species though because I don´t exactly know what Cataglyphis species live in Greece. However antweb doesn´t list Cataglyphis nodus for Greece but lists Cataglyphis bicolor which has simular colors.
