highered: Cataglyphis velox nest (1. Mai 2009 14:11)

Do these ants need a dry climate or would they be alright in a moderate or slightly higher then moderate climate please? I ask as I am considering getting these. Obviously you give them a dry nest with a heat source, but I assume you would need lots of small ventilation holes to stop it getting condensation?
PS Do they only accept live food, or can you give them meat?
Thanks for your help.

i have mine in an old fish tank.. which is pretty darn dry.. i keep the lamp on and the temp high up gets a good 30 degrees.. I dont give them any moisture at all in the nest... and they are thriving as my new pics shows.. so im not changing anything lol.. I give them mainly freshly killed food.. Crickets.. meal worms and waxworms.. However they have had a live waxworms and a few small live crickets.

They dont need much moisture. A little bit dont harm them. ;)
Like Steve said, they accept live and dead food (at least mine do).
