hello i got some Temnothorax nylanderi [temthorax nyland*] just before hibernation now i have them in there test tube in a box now should i cover the test tube like other ants or let the hole nest flood with light as there ground dwellers im not exactly sure##

Well dude.. all ants like it dark.. but its up to you really.. if you plan on wanting to keep them on view.. then let the light get on them.. I have only one of mine in light all the others are covered..

I would also tell you to cover the nest. My ants go really crazy when i take away the red foil and light shines on them. ;-) Then they always think their nest ist being attacked and destroyed. That really stresses and disturbs the colony in my eyes.
