He must have been on the test tube or somat..

Probably. ;)

you may be unlucky enough to have a colony that doesnt really care about vasaline lol

also, its worth putting an extra blob in the corners, where the silicon joins the piece of glass, as that may have given it more grip

SteveUK28: (1. Jan 2008 21:37)

extra blob added just in case..
When they go up to the vaseline they do turn around.. so im guessin they dont like it.. thank god.. And i have only seen that 1 out. :)

Ok.. HELP needed... My nylanderi have flying ants already... is this normal this time of year???

mzfckr: (23. Mär 2008 08:13)

i think thats is normal as ants antena.

Hi SteveUK28

Yes thats normal. Swarming gynes fly up during snowfall, climb on top of a large snowflake with which they slowly glide down like angels on a cloud.
Males also fly up into the sky and land on such flakes. They marry in this fluffy flying bed and upon landing the young queen digs down through the snow in search for an empty nutshell for colony foundation. So this usually happens between Christmas and Easter.

Happy Easter!

urmmm ok.. so how do i stop it from happening lol.. i dont really fancy a bunch of ants flying about my room.. suggestions please???

mzfckr: (23. Mär 2008 13:59)

dont let them fly out and they could shed their wings off and be like normal workers

SteveUK28: (23. Mär 2008 14:20)
