Hey guys..
Just wondering if any1 has ever tried bringing up a colony of pallidula with 2 queens before? Ive read that its possible.. but rare?? Any1 have any experience?
As i mater a fact Steve my colony has 2 queens. It is in deed rare. I received it with 2 queens a few years ago. They are doing great.
mmm Well i have some queens on there own now so i might try adding 2 together. I'll let you know how it goes.
You can try it, let us know how it worked out. ;)
Well ive added them together and they seem to be fine.. pilled all there eggs up together and have been cleaning each other.. Time will tell i guess...
Is possible to get 2 or more queens into one queen chamber , in test tube , but only ants later can choose if colony will polygyn , or monogyn. If you have older polygyn colony , you have luck , but a lot of specie killing other queens only to one stay alive :) (from my experience/experiments) ... it is able to get together also species which are regulary monogyn (some camponotus species etc) , but also , later will probably workers kill one of 2 queens :(
Well ive just checked and they now have first workers that are really tiny.. so time will tell over the next couple of days.. fingers crossed.
And i'll get some pics for you guys too when my batterys have charged up.. Later tonight or tomorrow morning ;)
nice one , we all waiting on pictures :):)
I tryied to make Formica cunicularia polygyn today , but one queen died during special poly-make-colony practics ... , also , I have 3-gyn colony of Lasius niger with first workers and they are doing fine :)
- just found some parasite specie of Lasius and put them to Lasius niger colony to simulate killing queen and make Lasius sp. + niger slaves colony. She ran into and they looks friendly , licking theirself , feeding btw :D , I do not understand
