Can anyone advise me on what to feed them since they refuse sugar water!
try insect and plain water but they wont eat sugar water all the time
Thanks
Hello TheWoolman,
give your ants honey water and insects.
Insects are particularly important at the time when brood is present.!
The demand for insects, honey- or sugar water may fluctuate.
Good luck!

The easiest way to feed Pheidole p allidula.
1 test-tube of sugar/honey water
1 test-tube of water
1 Freshly killed insect or alternative source of protein made always available to them.
Got my colony 6 months ago 1 queen and 9 workers.
Now there are at-least 2000+ workers and my colony is having a Nuptial flight as we speak.
Insane growth rate as-long as the food source is always available.
Keep you anti-escape barrier prepared at all times haha
Good luck with your colony!
2000 workers after just 6 month
that takes most colony's years to reach 2000
I know I really wished that I kept an active journal showing their growth from month to month. I bought the Artemis Acrylic nest which they grew out of then attached an nest which they grew out of and escaped from on a daily basis. Its gotten to a point where cleaning is almost impossible. Re-housed them into a natural basin nest which they've now outgrown.
I love them but they're a nightmare.
Also I'm moving to Cambodia in September and have to get rid of my colonies :( . Seems like an impossible task. Re-homing so many Ants.
