oh right, thanks jimmve and miszt for your help :) im not gonna feed my ants cockroaches iver!!! i mean i dont blame yer just looking at them makes me fill sick anouth lol. let alone buying them they are dirty, horrible, greasy, ugly looking things etc..........ol mealworms they are ok to feed ants, my rubras love them :!:

sorry for off-topic by the way

u do need to vary their diet tho, just feeding them one kind of insect wont give them all the nutriants they need, partiucly amino acids and protiens ;)

ant dude: (14. Dez 2007 18:07)

yes i know that!!! and i do vary there diet with all of my ants such as fruits etc.......why would u get the impression that i just feed them this as im not that daft (sorry if i seem a bit aggresive lol) :!:

About the Cockroaches, i kill them when i arrive at home, boil them for a few seconds and if they dried up i freeze them in until needed, no change of escaping there. ;) (i do this with all the insects i use to feed)

ant dude: (14. Dez 2007 18:37)

i much rather prefer to give my ants live food, as in nature and that they kill there own food. but it depends on da species with me if there aggresive i let the ants kill the live food, but if not an aggresive ant and say its quite small aswell then thats when i kill live insects for my ants. i know this post is directed to miszt mainly but i fault i might aswell say somthink if thats ok :P

JimmyVe: (15. Dez 2007 18:09)

I had a test with live food once, most of the colonies i keep could not catch a living fly (one that could not fly)... so i prefer to give dead insects. ;)

ant dude: (15. Dez 2007 19:47)

ok thats cool jimmve, but flys are a bit more different to most live insects,as they would make it a lot more differcult for the ants to catch and kill them lol:)

JimmyVe: (16. Dez 2007 11:52)

Yes that is true but if you place a live cricket in the farm i don't think many species could catch it and it probably ends up killing some of you workers.

ant dude: (16. Dez 2007 16:30)

hmmm but i tend not to use crickits for my ants so...........
