For how long was this colony queenless before you added it to the new queen?
about 1 week or so maybe a little less like 5 days
I'm trying it out with a Formica culicularia colony, queen died last summer, i put a new queen into the farm this winter (2/3 weeks ago) but so far she killed two workers and the other she doesn't accept.
Let us know who you are,
here .
Thanks !
ok guys i need some advise here.. My Pallidula have not nested under the ytong like i orginaly thought... They have nested under the water feeder lol.. So simple questions.. How on gods earth will i be able to add water now without disturbing them?? I think im gonna have to add another water feeder aint i???
I warned you about this steve ! ;) The sand is to tick, they are not going to move to the y-tong as long as they can stay in the sand. You could add a new water bottle. Than you solve the problem a bit. ;)
the sand wasnt damp tho lol.. the water must have spilled out.. or they did like my flavus did n somehow moved the water to the sand themselves.. my flavus emptied a whole pot in one night.. god knows how they managed that... amazin little thigns ants.
Well when I want to have a fairly natural looking ground I simply mix some sand and earth with some thick plaster and pour it in. Once it is set, it can look quite natural and the ants cannot digg into it (as long as you get the sand/plaster ratio right, you will have to experiment).
some water bottles are not made very well, and leak water very quickly, i have a couple that loose all their water over night aswell, pain in the butt cheeks
I thought it could have been it leakin too john... but not soo as its not done it since..
