To start a polygyne colony from mated queens, is it as simple as just catching multiple queens and putting them into the same test tube together? Or would you need to keep them closeby but separated for a while first so their scents will match?

Hello,
It's just that simple. The queens might want to get far from eachother when the colony is a tad larger, so nothing to worry about if that happens.
Cool, thanks! Nice to know that part won't be any hassle. Now I "just" have to find a few of them. My area seemed to be full of M Rubra, until I started thinking of starting a colony, and now they're all hiding.
